"Of Mages & Pages" Witches Coven

For anyone to become a witch, they must eat the fruit of the cursed recapple tree. Any being of the many sentient races can become a witch, once they have eaten of the fruit they transform into a witch. At will, they can transform themselves back and forth from their original form to a witch. This way they can pretend to live ordinary lives among all the races of the world and the covens can be kept secret. Some witches have chosen to stay in their witch form forever, once a witch makes this decision, she cannot return to her old form, nor does she even remember anything she did when she was not a witch and therefore forgets her true species. Witches can only number 6 in a coven. Sub-covens have formed over the eons because numbers reached more than 6 and there were arguments about their missions. The Magenta coven believes themselves to be special since their goddess Iniquity was transformed into Magenta pages. As a result, the magenta coven has never branched off into sub-covens, but their numbers have grown; they believe since they are special the rule of 6 doesn't apply to them.
The Black and White covens see themselves as the purest of the covens and have not ever branched off into sub-covens and they both only ever have 6 members. In the Black coven, if a member dies, the rest stop their tasks to seek out a new recruit. If more than one recruit is found, the recruits are pitted against one another in a match to the death. In the White coven, when a member is close to death, one recruit is found, and she is forced to kill the weakest member. If a member dies unexpectedly, the other members each find one recruit and all 5 recruits are pitted against one another in a melee to the death with the sole survivor taking the 6th spot. The true Red coven was abolished at the fall of the first Harry the Red Wizard. Naaj, having killed her 5 sisters to frame Harry, did not seek out new recruits for the Red coven and therefore became a sole rebellious witch. However, she had discovered the
whereabouts of the Spellbook and justified her decision to abolish her coven by the fact that they had succeeded in their ultimate goal. She also never associated with any other witches, nor did she share her success with the red sub-covens. She thinks that she will have extra favor in the eyes of Iniquity when she is revived. All covens each have a secondary goal, and that is to prepare for the coming battle when they will face off against their corresponding color's wizard. Some of the covens
have deliberately split into more and more sub-covens in an effort to increase their odds
against their enemy wizard.
