I am honored to unveil the MJL Veterans Freedom Mural, a large-scale tribute that stands as both a beacon of remembrance and a testament to the courage and sacrifice of those who served. Spanning over 20 feet by 60 feet on the side of Big Boar Cycles building in Columbia City IN, this mural draws the viewer into a vivid journey where history, faith, and freedom converge. What makes this work truly meaningful is that it’s not just mine alone—it is a shared expression of community. Loved ones and neighbors submitted portraits of veterans, and I have painted their likenesses with names, ranks, and stories that breathe life into the mural’s surface. This collective memory, layered with subtle hues of red, yellow, and purple, creates a powerful dialogue between past and present, honoring the sacrifices made and inspiring a deeper connection to the freedoms we cherish. This mural is more than paint on a wall—it is a living archive, a spiritual embrace, and a call to remember with gratitude every face that serves as a guardian of freedom. It stands as a reminder that behind every uniform is a story worth telling, and within every story lies an enduring hope for peace and unity.
